The United Way of Kootenai County Volunteer of the Year Awards are presented to individuals who have performed outstanding volunteer services in Kootenai County. We are pleased to announce that the 2007 Volunteer of the Year will be honored at the April 25, 2007 Awards Celebration, from 11:30a.m. to 1:00 p.m, at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.

This years Celebration event will not only honor our community volunteers, but also recognize our Employee Campaign Businesses, and kick-off our 50th Anniversary Year as the United Way of Kootenai County celebrates “50 Years of Caring”.

A list of all people nominated for these awards will be printed in the United Way Awards Celebration Program. In addition to the individual named Volunteer of the Year, other winners will be selected from each of the nomination categories.

Categories for Nominees:

There are five categories for Volunteer of the Year:

• Youth (21 years old and under)
• Individual (22 to 54 years of age)
• Senior (Over 55 years of age)
• Business (Any group or individual that volunteers on behalf of an industry or business)
• Team (Two or more individuals)

Eligibility criteria:

• A person is eligible in one category only.
• Nominees cannot be selected as a winner in the same category in two consecutive years.
• To be eligible, the nominator must be a United Way of Kootenai County member agency and the nominee must be a non-paid volunteer for that agency. The nominee may be volunteering time to fulfill school credit requirements but can not be paid or otherwise compensated for their time. Nominees who are reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses but do not receive any other compensation are eligible.
• There can be more than one nominee per agency.

How to Complete a Winning Nomination:

• The nomination form must be filled out completely and legibly so please print or type. An incomplete or unsigned nomination form disqualifies the nomination.
• Non-returnable photos of your candidate are encouraged.
• Do not send videotapes, scrapbooks or binders.
• Assume that the judges no nothing about the nominee, organization or community.
• Tell why your volunteer stands out from the rest.
• Focus on the program or activity that most describes the nominees service.

2007 Volunteer of the Year Nomination Form

Forms must be completed with all requested information filled in. Please hand-deliver or mail the original and 10 three-hole punched copies to the United Way of Kootenai County, 401 Front Ave. (Bank of America Building), Suite 201, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814 no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2007. Nominations postmarked by March 23 will be accepted.
